Disclaimer: 18 + for language, violence and sexual situations. This is a DARK and STEAMY read! Like for real DARK! If you are not wanting a Dark read this may not be for you.

I was given an ARC copy of this book to review and I have read a couple of Lili St. Germain’s books in the past so I am familiar with her dark writing style. I want to be upfront that this book is a VERY DARK romance, it deals with some trigger topics of drug use, rape and violence. With that being said I could not put this book down and it hooked me from page one. But I enjoy reading dark romance written well but I want to be upfront with everyone on what this book is about. I knew going into this book it would be dark and twisty so I was prepared.

I am not totally sure how to describe this book with out spoilers. This is not your typical Romeo and Juliet story, it is a very dark a twisty version. But there are enough elements from the Shakespeare play to get the connections. I remember watching the updated Romeo and Juliet movie with Claire and Leo and it blew my mind. It was so different from the play visually but it still held true to the story. This book blew me away as well again though it is very different story wise from the play it still has the Shakespeare drama elements. Avery and Rome have a rocky road though this book and it does end on a cliffhanger. Though I was ok with the cliffhanger because I kind of wanted a break to process the book.

Again there are parts of this book that were just hard to read, there were scenes that I had to put the book down for a bit and come back to it. There were surprises that had me gasping and things I just want to know! But the writing and story kept me reading, I wanted to find out what happened next. That to me is the mark of a good dark romance author, when it makes you cringe at some points but you still want to keep going. Now I may have to go watch a Disney cartoon and think about unicorns for a week but I did enjoy it. I know that I am doing a terrible job explaining the plot but I don’t want to give anything away that may spoil the twists and turns. But I give this 5 stars in the dark and twisty category. So if you are looking for a dark read on a sunny day then this would be a good choice.
